Morrison DNA Project

Post by morrisondna » Thu Jan 23, 2014 11:32 am

Welcome to the new DNA Project discussion section of the Clan Morrison Bulletin Board!

With this new forum, we now have the opportunity for interactive discussions on topics relating to researching Morrison, Gilmore, McLemore, etc., families histories through DNA testing.

The Morrison DNA Project website, www.geneticousins.com/morrison will continue to be the location where individual Y-DNA results are posted in family groups. But this new forum will be a location where information on results for individual Morrison family groups can be discussed among Morrison DNA Project members. Of course, participation in this discussion is voluntary, and it is up to individual participants to decide the extent to which they would like to participate.

This new forum has a section for each individual Morrison DNA Project Family Group (currently Groups A through AS). As new information comes in from new participants, testing of additional Y-DNA markers, and new SNP tests, these individual group sections will be used to post analysis of the results and suggestions for further testing. Comments and contributions are welcomed.

Thanks, Coit. We're now in our 10th year, and we've learned a lot. It turns out that Morrison history is even more interesting than we first thought!

Three new DNA Family Groups have been added at the Morrison DNA Project website ( www.geneticousins.com/morrison ) with the January 31, 2014, project update. Sub-forums have been created for new Groups AT, AU, and AV. Also in this update, we have

—a new Hamilton in Group F Miscellaneous
—new McAdams marker results in Group F
—one McLemore who moves from the Miscellaneous Group to Group O
—another McLemore with new results who stays unmatched in Miscellaneous

Courtesy of Bob Morrison of NC, we have the following statistics:

Test Results are available for 378 Participants
Participants with match(es): 315
Participants with no match(es): 63
Match Percentage still holds steady at a little more than 83%.
