Re: Group T Origins

Morrison, VIC, do you have an approximate year of your family's arrival in Australia? I have the impression it most likely they came after 1800. Nprman is a prominent name in my line as well. If you have not done the Y-DNA, please do so. Edwin will be able to steer you through the process.

Re: A Glossary

I bounced Edwin's question off a friend of mine who lives in Tarbert, Isle of Harris. She is Fiona Morrison (Wife of Angus) who serves as the school librarian there, I believe. Angus teaches also. Here is her answer: Meaning: teaghlach = family Pabaigh = Pabbay (the island of Pabbay) teaghlach Phaba...

A Glossary

In 1994 I published a history of my own Morrison line as I knew it at that time. In it included about a section as an appendix, some 18 pages of Morrison "Clan History" written in 1977 by Norman Mackay, a geography teach in Stornoway. Norman had written this history in a series of five letters to a ...

Re: M224 and Family

I did get by Clayton Library (Houston) to see what they had on Kershaw County, SC. I had previously mentioned it might be worth looking at since it bordered on Chesterfield Co. All I found was indexes of records but some we will need to look into, probably at the state archives in Columbus. For exam...

Re: John Cameron Morrison

John, if the family story about Flora and her husband Kenneth coming on the same boat (as young children) has any merit, I would think their arrival date more probably about 1800 -1802. If you do have family or other information that supports that Daniel M. was born in Chesterfield Co. , I am intere...

Re: Group T Origins

No McLeod matches? Good, that could mean that our Morrisons were able to give their sons their own names! This is fun!

M224 and Family

While my DNA is not in this group, it is a group that has considerable interest for me. I did sponsor one of its members, Noah Morrison, M224, who are descendants of John Morrison (d. 1849) who is buried in Walton Co. Fla. Murdock Morrison, a son of John, appears in the 1850 Census for Washington Co...

Re: Group T Origins

I am inclined to believe the common denominator for our group of Morrisons was the Macleods of Dunvegan whose span of land included additional islands and land on the mainland at Glenelg. For example, when in James Morrison, "The Blind Harper", fell out of favor with the Macleod chief, he was "demot...

Hello, Group T

I am M-129 in Group T My earliest is Angus whom I find buying land in Richmond Co., NC in 1789. He seems to have had sons, Norman, John, Murdock, Malcom,, Daniel and Angus and a daughter who married Angus McLeod. I have some reason to believe he came from Skye or nearby areas. I am not sure what hap...
